the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Boyd County in northeastern Kentucky...
Greenup County in northeastern Kentucky...
northwestern Lawrence County in northeastern Kentucky...
Carter County in northeastern Kentucky...
Gallia County in southeastern Ohio...
Lawrence County in southeastern Ohio...
Mason County in western West Virginia...
Cabell County in central West Virginia...
northwestern Putnam County in western West Virginia...
northern Wayne County in western West Virginia...

* until 300 am EDT

* at 1142 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
much of the heavy rain has ended across the warned area. Runoff
will continue for the next couple of hours. Flash flooding is
still occurring.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Huntington, Ashland, Portsmouth, Ironton, Point Pleasant, Grayson,
Gallipolis, Coal Grove, Olive Hill, Wayne, Rio Grande, Chesapeake,
Proctorville, Beech Fork State Park, Cannonsburg, Lake Vesuvius,
Grayson Lake State Park, Carter caves State Park, Barboursville and
Kenova.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest
Virginia, and West Virginia, including the following areas, in
northeast Kentucky, Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence KY. In
southeast Ohio, Athens, Gallia, Jackson OH, Lawrence OH,
Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington. In southwest
Virginia, Buchanan and Dickenson. In West Virginia, Barbour,
Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer,
Harrison, Jackson WV, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason,
McDowell, Mingo, northwest Fayette, northwest Nicholas,
northwest Pocahontas, northwest Raleigh, northwest Randolph,
northwest Webster, Pleasants, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane,
southeast Fayette, southeast Nicholas, southeast Pocahontas,
southeast Raleigh, southeast Randolph, southeast Webster,

* in general, 1 and a half to 3 and a half inches of rain is
possible across the watch area, with locally heavier amounts,
as the remnants of Tropical Depression Cindy combine with a
cold front dropping in from the northwest.

* Timing will have the heaviest band of rain, associated with the
remnants of Cindy riding up along an east southeastward moving
cold front, over southeast Ohio and northwest West Virginia this
afternoon and then shift southeastward across the entire area
later this afternoon and tonight, ending early Saturday morning

to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
