... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM Thursday to 8 am PST
Friday...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 4 PM Thursday to 8 am
PST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing... a weather system will move from south to north through
western Washington Thursday night. With cold air in place snow
will fall and snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected
across most of The Lowlands. The snow should change to rain
before daybreak Friday.

* Main impact... travel will affected as roadway surface
conditions may become slippery.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People planning on travel late Thursday afternoon and night should
expect winter driving conditons.

November was not as wet as October but it was near to above normal
for most of the western half of Washington, while the eastern half
was mostly below normal. However, for some sites on both sides of
the Cascades, November 2016 was in the top ten for wettest November
on record. The water year remains above to much above normal for all
of Washington state.

In western Washington, the monthly percentage of normal for
precipitation ranged from 88 percent on the western slopes of the
Cascade mountains to 169 percent in the Olympic Mountains. The
greatest amount of precipitation at the climate stations for the
mountains, coast and interior lowlands was 27.32 inches at Forks in
the Olympics, 26.96 at Clearwater, and 16.00 inches at Grays River
in the southwest interior.

For eastern Washington, the percentage of normal for precipitation
ranged from 67 percent in the Central Basin to 111 percent in the
Okanogan region. The greatest amount of precipitation at climate
stations for the mountains and lowlands was 6.87 inches at Stehekin
on the eastern slopes of the Cascades, and 2.50 inches at Chewelah
in the northeast region.

The outlook for December and beyond for Washington state, for the
next two weeks the outlook is for above normal precipitation. The
monthly outlook for December is also calling for above normal
precipitation. The three month outlook for December through February
calls for above normal precipitation for the eastern half of
Washington, except equal chances of above, below or near normal
precipitation for the western half of the state.

for regions of Washington. The current water year began 1 October
2016 and ends 30 September 2017.
