fell from yesterday afternoon through late this afternoon is
expected to continue tonight.

* until late Monday night... or until the warning is canceled.
* At 1231 PM Friday... the stage was 55.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 50.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 53.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is cresting near 55.0 feet... then a secondary crest
is expected from routed flow.
* At 55.0 feet... major lowland flooding begins.

... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the Flood Warning continues for the Navasota river near Normangee...
* from this afternoon until the warning is cancelled.
* At 1000 am Friday.. the stage was 14.2 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage late this afternoon and continue to rise
to near 18.7 feet Sunday night.
* At 18.0 feet... moderate lowland flooding begins as three channels merge into
one below State Highway 21. There is widespread inundation of the flood plain
in the vicinity of the gage with the river more than 1.5 miles wide. Long
trussel Road in northeast Brazos County below State Highway 21 becomes
inundated.

* at 809 am CDT... area flooding from very heavy rainfall totaling
between 10 and 20 inches that fell from Thursday through early
this morning continues to slowly recede. Additional shower and
thunderstorm development is still possible today... and any
significant rain falling on already saturated grounds will likely
lead to more flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
southern College Station... Brenham... Tomball... Navasota... Hempstead...
Prairie View... Pinehurst... The Woodlands... Washington... Shelby... Waller...
Magnolia... Somerville... Pine Island... Stagecoach... Snook... Burton...

... Record daily maximum rainfall set at College Station...

A record rainfall of 5.76 inches was set at College Station
yesterday. This breaks the old record of 1.02 inches set
in 1976.

Further south... Brenham recorded 16.62 inches of rain
yesterday which was also a daily rainfall record.
