northwestern Smith County in northeastern Texas...

* until 745 PM CDT

* at 246 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mineola... Pittsburg... Winnsboro... Leesburg... Lindale... Quitman... hoard...
Golden... Newsome... Hainesville... Pleasant Grove... Scroggins... miller's

the Sabine River near Gladewater, Texas.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 915 am Friday the stage was 28.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 32.3 feet by
Tuesday early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact... at 32.0 feet... lowland flooding will continue to slowly
decrease over the next several days.

* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 945 am Friday the stage was 25.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 23 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 26.2 feet by
early Sunday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at 25.0 feet... minor lowland flooding of pastures and
boatramps. Move livestock and equipment to higher ground.

the Sabine River near Mineola, Texas.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 915 am Friday the stage was 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 17.9 feet by
Monday early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... expect severe flooding with some barns
facing flooding. Preparations should be completed for moderate
flooding.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of Arkansas... northwest
Louisiana and northeast Texas... including the following
areas... in Arkansas... Columbia... Lafayette and Union. In
northwest Louisiana... Bossier... Caddo... Claiborne and Webster.
In northeast Texas... Camp... Cass... Cherokee... Franklin...
Gregg... Harrison... Marion... Morris... Panola... Rusk... Smith...
Titus... Upshur and wood.

* Through Saturday evening

* thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall are expected to continue
to spreading across the Flash Flood Watch area tonight.
Additional rainfall amounts of two to four inches... with
isolated higher amounts in excess of six inches... will be
possible through Saturday. Given that grounds have become
saturated from ongoing rainfall... this additional heavy
rainfall has the potential to enhance runoff and result in flash
flooding.

* In addition to the flash flooding threat... this heavy rainfall
will cause significant rises on area rivers and lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
