... NWS damage survey for 03/29/17 north Tarrant County
tornado/wind damage event...

.Overview... A National Weather Service team surveyed storm damage
over portions of north Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake from last
night's thunderstorms. This damage was separate from other tracks
that will be addressed in additional statements.

The team found damage consistent with an EF-0 tornado, with peak
winds of 85 mph. Tornado damage was first encountered along
western center Boulevard, west of I-35w in north Fort Worth. Here,
a series of large Oak Tree limbs were snapped, and some
superficial damage to some commercial buildings was observed. The
tornado crossed I-35w north of the western center Blvd overpass,
producing roof damage to multiple apartment complexes on the east
side of the Interstate. Damage continued in a northeast direction,
most notably snapping power poles and impacting the roof of a
large retail store near the corner of north Tarrant parkway and
U.S. 377 in far southwest Keller. The path of the tornado was at
its widest in this area, approaching 500 yards in width. Damage
consistent with 85 mph winds was observed near this intersection,
with multiple indications of rotation. The tornado continued
through Keller, weakening and narrowing in width as it crossed
Davis Boulevard and entered western Southlake. The magnitude and
nature of damage over this portion of the path was consistent with
a 65-85 mph tornado. No appreciable damage was found beyond FM
Road 1709 and Shady Oaks drive, and the tornado is believed to
have dissipated near this location.
