Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 2:56 AM EDT on July 04, 2015

Expires 8:00 PM EDT on July 04, 2015

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Polk County in east Tennessee...
Bradley County in east Tennessee...
Sequatchie County in east Tennessee...
Rhea County in east Tennessee...
McMinn County in east Tennessee...
Bledsoe County in east Tennessee...
Meigs County in east Tennessee...
Hamilton County in east Tennessee...
Monroe County in east Tennessee...

* until 600 am EDT/500 am CDT/

* at 252 am EDT /152 am CDT/... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain
that may cause some Urban and Small Stream flooding in the
advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen during
the past hour on already saturated ground in this area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chattanooga... Cleveland... Athens... Dayton... Dunlap...
Madisonville... Pikeville... Decatur... Benton... Soddy-Daisy... Signal
Mountain... Etowah... Walden... Lakesite... Charleston... Harrison...
South Cleveland... East Cleveland... Fairmount and Wildwood Lake.

Additional rainfall of one half inch or more is possible during the
next couple of hours across the area. This additional rain will
be enough to cause some minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
