The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a freeze
warning... which is in effect from 1 am to 8 am PDT Thursday. A
frost advisory has also been issued. This frost advisory is in
effect from 1 am to 8 am PDT Thursday. The freeze watch has been
upgraded.

* Low temperatures: most areas in the freeze warning 26 to 32
degrees... except in the upper teens to lower 20s near Klamath
Marsh. 33 to 36 degrees in the frost advisory.

* Inversion: moderate to strong inversion just a few hundred feet
above the ground with temperatures above 36 degrees.

* Locations in the freeze warning include: Bonanza... Merrill
Chemult... Crescent... Chiloquin... Altamont... Klamath
Falls... Tulelake... Dorris... Alturas.

* Locations in the frost advisory include: Lakeview and Tulelake.

* Impacts... frost and or below freezing temperatures may cause
damage to many types of vegetation if left unprotected.

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or
highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other
sensitive vegetation.

... Medford Oregon weather review: September 2014...

September 2014 featured a broad spectrum of weather for the Medford
area. The first three weeks were similar to Summer, with dry
conditions save for a few trace events, and temperatures mostly
above normal. In fact, Medford saw 16 days with high temperatures
over 90 degrees with the warmest day reaching 100 degrees on the
20th. As a result, this was the 2nd warmest September on record with
an average temperature of 71.4 degrees, just 0.4 degrees below the
record of 71.8 degrees set in 2011. In addition the average minimum
temperature in September was 54.4 degrees, which broke the record of
53.8 degrees, set in both 2013 and 2011. The warm conditions ended
with an atmospheric river event beginning on the 24th that brought
measurable precipitation to the entire County Warning Area, reducing
many area fires to mostly smoldering. 2.02 inches of rain were
recorded at the Rogue Valley international Airport in Medford on the
24th, the highest one day rainfall total this year. A cooling trend
occurred behind the cold front associated with this event, bringing
below normal to normal temperatures to Medford the last week of
September.

The average temperature for September was 71.0 degrees which was 4.2
degrees above normal. The average maximum temperature was 87.8
degrees which was 4.3 degrees above normal. The average minimum
temperature was 54.2 degrees which was 4.2 degrees above normal. The
highest temperature for the month was 100 degrees on the 20th. The
lowest temperature for the month was 47 degrees on the 4th.

There were 21 clear days, 8 partly cloudy days, and 1 cloudy day.

Total precipitation was 2.04 inches which was 1.47 inches above
normal. The greatest 24 hour total was 2.02 inches that fell on the
24th. The water year began September 1st and is currently at 2.04
inches which is 1.47 inches above normal. Calendar year
precipitation is 13.43 inches which is 2.72 inches above normal.

The average wind for the month was 3.5 mph. The fastest recorded
two-minute wind was 23 mph from the north on the 2nd. The peak
wind was 31 mph from the northwest on the 24th.

The highest pressure for the month was 30.16 inches on the 30th.
The lowest pressure was 29.63 inches on the 17th.

Records set during the month:

The precipitation amount of 2.02 inches on the 24th broke the record
of 0.34 inches set in 2001.

The maximum temperature of 100 on the 20th broke the record of 98
set in 1952.

The low temperature of 61 on the 18th was the warmest minimum
temperature for the date. The old record was 59 in 1970.
The low temperature of 61 on the 21st tied the previous warmest
minimum temperature for the date, set in 1913.
