the Flood Warning continues for
the Siuslaw river near Mapleton.
* At 11 PM Saturday the stage was... 22.0 feet / 31534 cfs.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet and flood flow is 22400 cfs.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... this river is forecast to crest at 22.8 ft around 4 am
Sunday. After the crest, it is forecast to fall below flood stage
around 5 am Monday.
* Impact... above 22 ft, expect widespread flooding of low-lying land.
Several homes and structures in low areas of Mapleton start to
flood. Numerous rural roads along and near the Siuslaw river will
likely be flooded, and water begins to cover the lower sections of
Hwy 126 at this stage. Flooding may be exacerbated during high
tide.

flooding. Some secondary roads in low lying areas will be flooded
at this level.

* Major flooding can be expected during the crest.
* Impact... above 20.8 ft, expect widespread flooding in Philomath,
especially on the south side in the vicinity of chapel drive and
Grange Hall Road, in central Benton County, and portions of
Corvallis.

* Forecast... this river will rise above flood stage around 2 am
Sunday and is expected to crest near 30.0 ft Sunday evening.
* Impact... above 29.0 ft, expect widespread flooding of the lowland
agricultural lands upstream from Falls City and Maple Grove to the
confluence with the Willamette river. Also expect flooding and
possible closure of numerous secondary roads near the river.

* Through Monday afternoon

* rain will continue to fall over northwest Oregon and southwest
Washington through Monday. The rain over southwest Washington is
expected to decrease in intensity late Saturday night and early
Sunday. Over northwest Oregon expect rainfall to decrease in
intensity during the day Sunday.

* Flood warnings are in effect for some of the coastal rivers and
Willamette tributaries. There is a lesser risk for any flooding
on the mainstem of the Willamette. There also remains a threat
for flooding along the Hood River.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

Landslides and debris flows are possible during this flood event.
People... structures and roads located below steep slopes... in
canyons and near the mouths of canyons may be at serious risk
from rapidly moving landslides.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The next update for this watch will be issued by 6 PM Sunday.
