Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through late Wednesday night for
portions of northwest Oregon...

The Flood Watch continues for...

* a portion of northwest Oregon... including the following
areas... Cascade foothills in Lane County... Coast Range of west
central Oregon... coast of west central Oregon... central
Willamette Valley... northern Oregon Cascade foothills and south
Willamette Valley.

* Through late Wednesday night.

* The onset of heavy rain tonight... combined with some snowmelt in
the Coast Range and Cascades foothills... will cause rises on
rivers and creeks draining the Coast Range... and north Oregon
Cascade foothills.

* Rainfall amounts through Thursday... 1 to 2 inches in the central
and southern Willamette Valley... 4 to 7 inches in the coast and
Coast Range of west central Oregon... and 2 to 4 inches in the
Cascade foothills of north Oregon and Lane County.

* Rivers of concern include... but are not limited to... the Marys
River in Benton County... and the Luckiamute river in Polk and
Benton counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Landslides and debris flows are possible... especially in and near
steep slopes.




High Wind Warning

Statement as of 10:05 PM PST on January 17, 2017

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 am PST
Wednesday for the South Washington coast and the north and
central Oregon coast...

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 am PST Wednesday.

* Headlands and open beaches: south 35 to 45 mph with gusts 65 to
70 mph.

* Coastal communities: south 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 60
mph.

* Timing of strongest winds: there will be a brief lull in the
strongest gusts tonight... before increasing again between 4 am
and 8 am Wednesday. Late tonight into Wednesday morning.

* Impacts: winds may be strong enough to produce spotty power
outages. Watch for tree debris on roadways through Wednesday
morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.





Gale Warning, Storm Warning, Hazardous Seas Warning

... Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Wednesday...
... Hazardous seas warning remains in effect from 4 PM to 10 PM
PST Wednesday...

* winds... south gales 30 to 40 knots this afternoon... increasing
to storm force 35 to 50 kt with gusts to 65 kt late this
afternoon and evening continuing into Wednesday afternoon.

* Seas... west swell and wind waves will produce very steep
combined seas of 13 to 18 feet this afternoon. Seas become
mainly wind driven and extremely high and steep at 24 to 28 feet
tonight continuing through Wednesday evening.

* Areas affected and timing... all areas will experience
hazardous conditions through Wednesday... but the strongest
winds and steepest seas will occur as the front approaches the
coast and a coastal jet forms Wednesday morning through
afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots along with very
steep and hazardous seas are imminent or occurring. Operating a
vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly
equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without
the proper experience seek safe Harbor prior to the onset of gale
conditions.

A Storm Warning means winds of 48 to 63 knots along with
extremely steep and dangerous seas are imminent or occurring.
Recreational boaters should remain in port... or take shelter
until winds and waves subside. Commercial vessels should prepare
for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions and consider
remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds and waves
subside.

A hazardous seas warning means very steep and hazardous sea
conditions are imminent or occurring. Recreational boaters should
remain in port... or take shelter until waves subside. Commercial
vessels should prepare for rough seas and consider remaining in
port or taking shelter in port until hazardous seas subside.

Strong front is slowly pushing towards the coast. South winds
increased along the coast this afternoon, with one burst of strong
winds occuring late in the afternoon. Afterwards, winds eased a bit.
But south winds have been increasing since 7 PM. Strong gusty south
winds will continue overnight, then slowly ease Wednesday morning.
