Muskogee County in east central Oklahoma...

* at 1122 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar showed a
large area of thunderstorms moving north into eastern Oklahoma.
Several inches of rain has fallen over the past 24 hours... with
another one to three inches possible through the afternoon hours.
With the ground already saturated... flash flooding is likely to
occur. While precipitation may taper off in some areas during the
warning period... it will take some time for any high water to
runoff.

large area of thunderstorms moving across eastern and southeast
Oklahoma. Over the past 6 hours... one to three inches of rain has
fallen... with another one to three inches possible through the
afternoon hours. With the ground already saturated... flash
flooding is likely to occur. While precipitation may taper off in
some areas during the warning period... it will take some time for
any high water to runoff.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Illinois River near Tahlequah
* from this afternoon to Wednesday morning, or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:00 am Sunday, the stage was 9.47 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the Illinois River near Tahlequah is expected to rise
above flood stage early Sunday afternoon and continue to rise to
near 14.3 feet by mid Tuesday morning. The river is expected to
fall below flood stage early Wednesday morning.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet, moderate flooding occurs from Chewey bridge
downstream towards Tahlequah. Access roads east of the Combs bridge
near Eagles Bluff will be impassable. Extreme turbulence makes the
river too hazardous for floating.

   Madison... Sebastian and Washington. In Oklahoma... Adair...
Cherokee... Choctaw... Craig... creek... Delaware... Haskell...
Latimer... Le Flore... Mayes... McIntosh... Muskogee... Nowata...
Okfuskee... Okmulgee... Osage... Ottawa... Pawnee... Pittsburg...
Pushmataha... Rogers... Sequoyah... Tulsa... Wagoner and
Washington.

* Through Monday morning

* showers and thunderstorms will we widespread across all of
eastern Oklahoma and west central and northwest Arkansas today.
The heavy rain will continue begin to taper off tonight.

* Additional rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches will be common
through tonight. Local amounts during the day into the evening
hours could reach 5 or 6 inches.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Life threatening flooding can develop rapidly with these rainfall
amounts... especially near area rivers and lakes. Be prepared to
heed flood warnings and act quickly.

If you are in the watch area... keep informed... and be ready for
quick action if flash flooding is observed or if a warning is
issued. Have a means of receiving any warnings issued such
as a weather radio.

If you live near... or travel across a stream... creek or river
subject to flooding... now is the time to prepare for dangerous
flooding.
