Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 7:22 AM EDT on April 25, 2017

Expires 11:45 AM EDT on April 25, 2017

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1115 am EDT for Wayne...
northeastern Sampson... wake... Johnston and Durham counties...

... A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Wake County through 1100
am EDT...

At 710 am EDT, emergency management officials report numerous roads
closed across the across the warned area, particularly in more urban
locations in wake, Durham, and Johnston counties. An additional one
to two inches are possible this morning, especially across wake and
Durham counties, and flooding in Raleigh and Durham will worsen
through 900 am, with additional Road closures likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a dangerous situation due to traffic congestion during the
morning commute. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded
roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Residents in
flood prone areas should take necessary precautions now to protect
life and property.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
