The National Weather Service in Springfield has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern Dallas County in southwestern Missouri...
Wright County in southwestern Missouri...
Dent County in south central Missouri...
Laclede County in southwestern Missouri...
Pulaski County in central Missouri...
Texas County in south central Missouri...
Phelps County in east central Missouri...

* until 1000 PM CDT Sunday

* at 1144 am CDT, the Department of Transportation reported flash
flooding across the warned area. Many low water crossings remain
in flood across the area with Road closures. Doppler radar was
estimating between four and ten inches of rainfall has occurred
with this system.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route E north of Highway 38 at the Gasconade river...
Route y northwest of Rolla...
Route j at Parks creek 2 miles east of Morgan...
Route b, 2 miles west of Conway...
and Route M at Parks creek near Grovespring.

Interstate 44 has been shut down in both directions near Hazelgreen
due to extreme flooding of the Gasconade river.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

... For the Gasconade river at Hazelgreen...
* at 11:15 am Sunday the stage was 34.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 37.1 feet by
around midnight. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
morning.

* until 1115 am CDT Monday

* at 1112 am CDT, Department of Transportation continues to report
many low water crossings still in flood and many Road closures due
to flooding. Doppler radar indicated between 3 and 5 inches of
rainfall occurred with this storm system.


* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route h just north of Pleasant Hope...
Route c north of Buffalo at Lindley creek...
Route aa at the Pomme de Terre east of Bolivar...
Route N at the Maries river east of Brinktown...
and Highway 215 just east of Pleasant Hope.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and
Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller,
Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon,
St. Clair, stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* Through this evening

* showers and thunderstorms will continue to primarily affect the
Highway 63 corridor into this afternoon... however areas over the
remainder of the watch area will still witness scattered showers
through this morning. While rainfall is not expected to resulted
in additional widespread flooding... the additional light to
moderate rain will keep flood levels high.

* With soils already saturated as well as streams and rivers
running high, significant flooding will continue. Flooding of
streams, rivers, and low water crossings could last for
several days after the rain ends. Areas that don't normally
flood could flood in this event. Many rivers are expected to
go into moderate to major flood... with some breaking records.

Some main Stem rivers that will experience significant rises and
potential flooding include the Elk, Spring, James, Big Piney,
Gasconade, Jacks Fork, current, eleven point, Osage, and
Marmaton. Some river points may reach moderate or major flood
stage.
