Expires 1:00 AM EST on January 28, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 am EST
Wednesday...

* locations... include Nantucket.

* Hazard types... heavy wet snow along with near blizzard
conditions possible.

* Accumulations... snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.

* Timing... snow becoming heavy into tonight before switching to
rain during the day Tuesday. As winds shift back to the north
and northwest late Tuesday... rain will transition back over to a
period of heavy snow before ending Wednesday.

* Impacts... heavy snow and strong winds may result in white-out /
near blizzard conditions with low visibility at times. Travel
will be impossible and life threatening across the entire
region. Also snow will be wet enough to result in downed trees
and power outages in addition to the hurricane force winds.

* Winds... north 30 to 50 mph with gusts around 70 to 80 mph. The
height of the winds will be late tonight into Tuesday.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when an average of 6 or more
inches of snow is expected in a 12 hour period... or for 8 or more
inches in a 24 hour period. Travel will be slow at best on well
treated surfaces... and quite difficult on any unplowed or
untreated surfaces.

All unnecessary travel is discouraged! This is a serious life-

Coastal Flood Warning

Statement as of 3:57 PM EST on January 26, 2015

Expires 7:00 PM EST on January 27, 2015

... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect from 3 am to 7 am EST
Tuesday...
... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect from 3 PM to 7 PM EST
Tuesday...

* location... the eastern Massachusetts coast including Cape Cod
and Nantucket.

* Coastal flooding... widespread moderate with pockets of major
coastal flooding expected along with severe beach erosion.

* Timing... during the early Tuesday morning high tide and again
for the late Tuesday afternoon high tide.

* Impacts... flooding of vulnerable shore roads and basements will
occur during the Tuesday early morning and late afternoon high
tides. Some structural damage is likely in the more vulnerable
locations. Severe beach erosion is expected for both Tuesday
high tide cycles. Erosion will be a particular concern for
portions of Plum Island and along the east facing shorelines of
Orleans... Chatham and Nantucket for both tide cycles. Severe
erosion is also possible along the north side of Cape Cod from
Sandwich to Eastham during the Tuesday late afternoon high tide. This
storm has enough intensity to possibly cause a New Inlet or two
to be formed along barrier beaches.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major coastal
flooding is likely. Moderate coastal flooding produces widespread
flooding of vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the
height of storm tide and/or wave action. Numerous Road closures
are needed. Lives may be at risk for people who put themselves in
harms way. Isolated structural damage may be observed.

All tide heights are relative to mean lower low water.
Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
