* Flood Warning for...
eastern Wayne County in south central Kentucky...
southwestern Laurel County in south central Kentucky...
Bell County in southeastern Kentucky...
Knox County in southeastern Kentucky...
McCreary County in south central Kentucky...
southeastern Pulaski County in south central Kentucky...
Whitley County in south central Kentucky...

* until 630 PM EDT

* at 1235 PM EDT, moderate to occasionally heavy rain was falling
over the warning area. The prolonged rainfall will cause some
streams to overflow their banks. Wolf Creek River Road in southern
Whitley County was reported closed due to high water.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Williamsburg, Barbourville, Pineville, Middlesboro, Whitley City,
Burnside, Julip, Varilla, Swan Lake, Cumberland Falls S.P., CO-
Operative, Zion Hill, Ponza, Black Snake, Mount Victory, Gausdale,
Blanche, krupp, Cubage and general Burnside State Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of south central Kentucky and southeast Kentucky,
including the following areas, in south central Kentucky,
Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne, and Whitley counties. In
southeast Kentucky, Clay, Floyd, Knott, Knox, Leslie, and
Perry counties.

* It is in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon.

* Up to an inch of rain can be expected in the watch area this
afternoon, with locally higher amounts possible. This will bring
event total rainfall amounts to generally between 1.5 and 2.5
inches.

* Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding of low lying areas.
Additionally, fast rises on area rivers, creeks, and streams
are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
