* Flood Warning for...
Wabaunsee County in east central Kansas...
Morris County in east central Kansas...
Shawnee County in east central Kansas...
Jefferson County in northeastern Kansas...
northern Franklin County in east central Kansas...
Geary County in east central Kansas...
Jackson County in northeastern Kansas...
Douglas County in east central Kansas...
Osage County in east central Kansas...
Lyon County in east central Kansas...
eastern Pottawatomie County in northeastern Kansas...

* until 915 am CDT Friday

* at 108 am CDT... local law enforcement and the public have reported
creeks and streams out of their banks as well as some Road
closures. Additional rainfall will prolong the flooding through
the night.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Topeka... Lawrence... Emporia... Junction city... Ottawa... Baldwin City...
Wamego... Holton... Osage City... Council Grove... Carbondale... Valley
Falls... Rossville... Oskaloosa... Alma... Eskridge... Tecumseh... Eudora... St.
Marys and Richland.

This warning replaces the flash flood warnings that are about to
expire.

Additional rainfall amounts of a half to one inch are possible in
the warned area overnight.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 35 between mile markers 128 and 143... and between mile
markers 187 and 198.
Interstate 70 between mile markers 294 and 304... and between mile
markers 323 and 355.
Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 116 and 205.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Turn around, don't drown.

areas... in central Kansas... Dickinson. In east central
Kansas... Anderson... Coffey... Douglas... Franklin... Geary...
Lyon... Morris... Osage... Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In north
central Kansas... Clay... cloud... Ottawa... Republic and
Washington. In northeast Kansas... Brown... Jackson...
Jefferson... Marshall... Nemaha... Pottawatomie and Riley.

* Through Saturday morning

* additional showers and thunderstorms... some heavy at times is
expected later this afternoon into the evening hours. Heavy
rainfall has fallen over the last few days and additional heavy
rains could lead to flash flooding as well as flooding of
streams and creeks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
