MDT/1115 PM CDT/ for southwestern Decatur... Rawlins... northern
Thomas... Cheyenne and northern Sherman counties in northwestern
Kansas...

At 947 PM MDT/1047 PM CDT/... severe thunderstorms were located along
a line extending from 13 miles northeast of McDonald to 5 miles west
of St. Francis... moving southeast at 35 mph.

Hazard... 62 mph wind gusts.

Source... measured 8 miles north-northeast of St. Francis.

Impact... expect damage to roofs... siding... and trees.

Locations impacted include...
St. Francis... Atwood... Bird City... McDonald... Herndon... Ludell and
Wheeler.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

These thunderstorms will produce damaging winds resulting in areas of
near zero visibility in blowing dirt. Use extreme caution if you must
travel and be alert for rapidly changing visibility.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms... and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Colorado... Kansas
and southwest Nebraska... including the following areas... in
northeast Colorado... Yuma County. In Kansas... Cheyenne...
Decatur... Gove... Graham... Greeley... Logan... Norton... Rawlins...
   Sheridan... Sherman... Thomas... Wallace and Wichita. In
southwest Nebraska... Dundy... Hitchcock and Red Willow.

* Until 6 am MDT /7 am CDT/ Wednesday

* prolonged rainfall over the same location may lead to flash
flooding late this evening and overnight. Low lying areas will
be especially at risk for flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that additional rainfall may result in
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to move quickly to higher
ground should flash flooding occur.
