Winter Weather Advisory

Statement as of 6:37 PM PST on February 21, 2017

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 11 am PST
Wednesday...

* locations... Kellogg, Pinehurst, Deary, Clarkia, Avery, Osburn,
Wallace, Mullan, Fourth of July Pass, Dobson Pass, and Lookout
Pass.

* Valley snow accumulations tonight... up to 2 inches in the
Silver Valley and St Joe river and St Maries river valleys.

* Mountain snow accumulations... an additional 3 to 5 inches
tonight including Lookout Pass on I-90.

* Timing... snow levels will fall to the valley floors by mid
evening.

* Impacts... wet roads will become slush or snow covered this
evening and icy overnight. Motorists should be prepared for
winter driving conditions after sunset including portions of
I-90 near Lookout Pass.

* Snow level... 2500 feet this evening... lowering to valley
floors.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Areal Flood Watch

Statement as of 10:40 PM PST on February 21, 2017

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north Idaho and Washington, including the
following counties, in north Idaho, Benewah, Kootenai, Latah,
and Shoshone. In Washington, Spokane and Whitman.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* additional precipitation falling tonight and Wednesday morning
will largely be in the form of drizzle or snow. Temperatures
will cool near freezing slowing down the potential for snow
melt.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Watch continues for
the Palouse river near Potlatch
* from late tonight to Wednesday evening.
* At 4:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 12.1 feet.
* There is the potential that the river will climb above the
action stage of 14 feet tonight and get close to the flood
stage of 15 feet on Wednesday morning.
* Flood stage is 15 feet.
* Forecast... if flood stage is reached... it will occur Wednesday
morning.

* at 15.0 feet... extensive flooding of the low lying areas between
Potlatch, ID and Palouse, WA will occur. Flooding will occur at the
lions club Community Park and Hayton Greene Park in Palouse. South
River Road will likely be flooded where it crosses the Palouse
river at Wellesley Rd. The Potlatch softball and baseball fields
will start to flood.
