Expires 7:00 PM EDT on October 19, 2017

... Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 am EDT
Thursday...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through Thursday
evening...

* coastal flooding... moderate tidal flooding is expected around
times of high tide within the St. Johns River basin and its
tributaries. Minor coastal flooding is expected along area
beaches and within coastal estuaries. Elevated water levels
likely to continue into Friday.

* Timing... elevated water levels will continue through at least
Friday and likely through the weekend along the St Johns River.

* Impacts... river and creek flooding around the times of high
tide will cause minor flooding of mainly Parks, campgrounds,
docks and boat ramps and along some area Atlantic beaches.
Strong rip currents and rough surf are expected at area
beaches as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert
for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and
property.

Rip currents will be life threatening.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach patrol.
Pay attention to flags and posted signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current remain calm.
Don't fight the current. Swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help. If tired, float or tread water until out of the rip
current.
