California, Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from late tonight through
Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of western California... including the following
areas... coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National
Seashore... East Bay hills and the Diablo Range... East Bay
interior valleys... mountains of San Benito County and interior
Monterey County including Pinnacles National Monument... North
Bay interior valleys... North Bay mountains... northern Monterey
Bay... northern Salinas valley/Hollister Valley and Carmel
Valley... San Francisco... San Francisco Bay shoreline... San
Francisco peninsula coast... Santa Clara Valley including San
Jose... Santa Cruz Mountains... Santa Lucia mountains and Los
Padres National Forest... southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur coast
and southern Salinas valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio.

* From late tonight through Sunday afternoon

* periods of heavy rain on already saturated soils will impact
the region from late tonight through Sunday afternoon.
Additional rainfall amounts from 0.75 to 1.5 inches are possible
at lower elevations with 2 to 5 inches across the North Bay and
coastal slopes.

* The primary impacts will be localized ponding of water on low
lying roadways with poor drainage... rapid rises on streams and
creeks with some likely exceeding bankfull... some river
flooding... and potential rock and mud slides. Recent burn scars
will also be susceptible to debris flows during periods of
intense rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... High surf warning remains in effect until 3 am PST Sunday...

* waves and surf... west swell 24 to 28 feet today through early
Sunday morning. Swell periods 14 to 15 seconds.

* Timing... continuing through early Sunday morning.

* Impacts... large breaking waves... strong rip currents... and
sneaker waves.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf warning indicates that very dangerous... battering
waves will pound the shoreline. Do not venture near or into the
water... heavy surf will result in deadly rip currents.





High Wind Warning

Statement as of 4:12 AM PST on January 21, 2017

... High Wind Warning in effect from 10 PM this evening to 10 am
PST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a High
Wind Warning... which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to
10 am PST Sunday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing... late tonight into Sunday morning.

* Winds... sustained southerly winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts
greater than 60 mph... strongest near the coast and in higher
elevations.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult... especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Since the soils are
saturated... there is a heightened potential for downed trees
and power outages.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

A Gale Warning remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 8 PM
PST this evening. A Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 PM
this evening to 3 am PST Sunday. A Gale Warning remains in effect
from 3 am to noon PST Sunday. A Small Craft Advisory remains in
effect until 3 PM PST this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

A Storm Warning means winds of 48 to 63 knots are imminent or
occuring. Recreational boaters should remain in port... or take
shelter until winds and waves subside. Commercial vessels should
prepare for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions... and
consider remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds
and waves subside.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occuring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
